or maybe I just like to listen to familiar sounds as I work. Sometimes I find ideas flow best when I don't have to concentrate on anything else. In any case, I thought I would share some of my favorite older albums to listen to while I print designs. This list is by no means comprehensive (I swear I listen to more than folk and sad songs!), but the albums are standbys that I always fall back on. Some I remember from my childhood, while others are ones I discovered as my musical tastes broadened.
- Graceland, Paul Simon
- Blue, Joni Mitchell
- Pink Moon, Nick Drake
- Greatest Hits, Simon and Garfunkel
- Astral Weeks, Van Morrison
- Chelsea Girl, Nico
- Abbey Road, The Beatles
- Pet Sounds, The Beach Boys
- Stardust, Willie Nelson

lists and music, my two most favorite things ever! as much as i love to find new music, getting to know some old favorites (or my parents' old favorites) again can be a lovely change.
I have 6 of these albums rotating in my ipod... I know what you mean about "not thinking" about the things around you while working. The music just meshes in and gives you a comfortable feeling.
I listen to a lot of the same when I work too...
I love so many of the albums on your list, as well. I could listen to the Joni Mitchell song "A Case of You" for 24 hours straight.
=^.^=
my mom had most of those albums
too funny
hadn't thought of them in years
I can relate. Simon and Garfunkle are one of my all-time faves and I would pay big bucks to see them perform together. I have all of the albums you listed!
Love the Neko album, Nick Drake and Pet Sounds. Not so much on the others, even the Beatles (sorry!).
Have you ever listened to any Eno or John Cale?
