Okay, so I still have not finished this dress, but that is so not the point. I love these environmentally friendly, handprinted fabrics from Hollabee. What could I make? Pillows, perhaps? I think these would look great in a Southwestern interior.

that I want to try myself. Sure it's a questionable aesthetic, but it's fun all the same. I love a little vintage kitsch.

I stumbled upon a new shop a few days ago. Ninainvorm takes vintage ceramics and screenprints them with sweet images of birds, flowers, hearts, and droplets in a variety of lovely colors.

While we still haven't found permanent housing in Albuquerque (and are relying on the very generous hospitality and dog-friendliness of family), I'm dreaming of nesting and starting some long-longed-for projects. I posted about terrariums here and here previously.
Since this, I've noticed cute little terrariums with, shall we say, accessories. I think I'm partial to these vintage cupcake toppers from ableemporium's Etsy shop. Wouldn't some little deer or gnomes be a great mix among some moss and ferns? You could just insert them right into the soil.
My five-year diary came in the mail today. Such an inspiring object for our road trip this summer and for the years to come! I love the idea of being able to look back on five years in one sweet little book.
. A neat little book like that would make it possible to remember each day as it passes without being filled with guilt at my lack of poetic reflection.
I'm really loving vintage midcentury modern furniture lately. It has such clean, soothing lines, and seems like an ecologically sound choice--- finding beauty in what already exists rather than making more "stuff."
Another one of my domestic fantasies has been to grow my own food. This might be decidedly more difficult in New Mexico, as I want to be ecologically responsible and not use an insane amount of water. Part of me wonders if doing container gardening with a few select edibles would be a smarter choice.
One of my work friends has become more and more fixated on the fact that I'm a born Vermonter moving to a very brown landscape. It doesn't help that he visits his mother-in-law in Albuquerque, so it seems that all his associations are pretty negative.
When we were married last August, we had cupcakes instead of a traditional tiered wedding cake. And then, just to be silly, we cut them with a silver heirloom cake cutter that my grandparents used at their own wedding (I wanted tiers of Rice Krispies treats, but that's another story for another post).
Another print I have had my eye on for some time is this one by theblackapple (another artist whose blog is a regular read). Doesn't it make you feel cozy and warm? I love the title, too--- "Cold Toes Warm Heart."
I've also been in love with Jennifer Judd-McGee's work at swallowfield. Her collages are so pretty and cheerful, and she sells them as originals as well as prints. "Red Quilt" is one I really love:
Hmmm, I'm sensing a theme here with the red. I like lots more, too, that I'd love to share later. And I need to go make something today. The weather is so beautiful, but I haven't taken advantage of it to make those cyanotypes I wrote about earlier.
After posting about my ideal plate wall twice, I had to share one of my favorite Etsy shops, Trixiedelicious. She embellishes vintage plates with witty (and often dirty) catchphrases. The results are both pretty and hilarious.

House lust has fully set in . . . every Sunday night, my husband and I buy a bottle of our favorite red wine (Rex Goliath, if you want to try it) and browse realty sites and gush over charming adobe houses in Albuquerque. The real challenge has been finding something pre-1950!
